The Wonders of Technology

Good afternoon,

Mid way through this week, Tom brought in a way cool book that he got out from the public library that. when used alongside a free downloadable app on his iPad, displays augmented virtual reality.

Today he brought it in again, and this time hooked it up to the Apple TV in the library.

It's really cool!

N.Z Opera story

Hi everyone,

On the 14th March we went to the N.Z Opera at Hillmorton high school.

It was all about a very wealthy farmer called Don Pasquale from Balclutha who want to get married so he could kick his nephew off the farm! He asked his friend to get married to someone. His friend said "I have someone who is gentle, charming, beautiful, loving, careful...my sister!"
"Well, when do I get to meet her"
"One o'clock."
Don could not wait. Knock knock. It was his nephew Ernesto.
"I am getting married to Dottore Malatesta's sister"
"No way"!! replied Ernesto.
"I want to get rid of you. I don't need you on the farm anymore!"

Mr Grant was the marriage celebrant.

Here is a photo Mr Grant in the play!

N.Z Opera

Hi all,

On the 14 March Years 3-8 went to Hillmorton High to watch N.Z Opera (the story will be in another post).

It was directed by the wonderful Jacqui Coates, who had her on twist on the story. Normally there are about 40 characters on the stage, but this time there was only 5.

I really enjoyed the Opera I thought they did really well. Their singing was so great I was blown away!!

Room 4's Sand dunes visit

Hi everyone,

On Monday 6th of March Room 4 went to New Brighton beach to see how important the sand dunes are. We learned that the sand dunes can only be lowered to 8 meters. Some people don't like the sand dunes because they don't get a view of the beautiful beach but they actually keep all the water and sand from coming in our homes. If we walk on the sand dunes they will get destroyed that is why the have the steps to get across.

Here is an example of a sand dune that some students of Room 4 made.

The trip was amazing. It was also cool building and learning about sand dunes.

Thanks for reading the Batten Team blog.
